Fiesta Is Here: Fun Events Around San Antonio to Enjoy This April
If you can feel a little more color, music, and energy in the air, you’re not imagining it. Fiesta San Antonio is here, running from April 16 through April 26, 2026, with more than 100 official events planned across the city. It’s one of those times of year when San Antonio really shows off what makes it special: culture, food, tradition, and a reason to get out of the house.
Whether you’ve lived here for years or you’re still getting to know the city, Fiesta season is a great reminder that San Antonio knows how to bring people together. From downtown favorites to family-friendly daytime events, there is something happening for just about every schedule and comfort level. Think of it like the city’s spring reunion, only with more medals, better snacks, and a lot more confetti.
Some of the biggest crowd favorites are back this year. A Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA) returns to La Villita on April 22, 23, and 24. The Ford Mariachi Festival is also back on the River Walk, and La Semana Alegre returns to Hemisfair later in the week. For families looking for daytime fun, the Fiesta Carnival at the Alamodome, Viva Botanica at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, Festival de Animales at the San Antonio Zoo, and the always fun Fiesta Pooch Parade are all on the schedule.
A few things are different this year, so it helps to plan ahead. Fiesta de Los Reyes at Market Square is charging a $5 admission fee during peak hours, and Alamo Heights Night is paused for 2026. On the plus side, recent road work wrapping up around parts of downtown should help make access easier for some of the major events.
If you’re trying to decide what to do, here’s the easy play: pick one evening event, one family event, and one food-centered stop. That gives you a good mix of the Fiesta experience without feeling like you need a nap by noon. For many locals, the real fun is less about “doing everything” and more about enjoying a few traditions that make San Antonio feel like home.
One more practical note: city and county officials are pushing the “Fiesta Safe, Drive Sober” message this year, with added emphasis on planning rides ahead of time. If you’re heading downtown or enjoying one of the many events with drinks, it’s smart to line up a rideshare or designated driver before the party starts. That part may not be glamorous, but neither is explaining your life choices from the side of the road.
This season is also a good reminder of why so many people love living here. San Antonio isn’t just growing. It still holds onto the traditions that make people feel connected to the city and to each other. Fiesta has a way of doing that. It turns a regular April weekend into something people remember.
So if you’ve been meaning to get out and enjoy the city, this is your sign. Grab the family, invite some friends, wear something festive, and go make a memory or two.
